“Music” and “Finland” is a combination of words that will probably either remind you of Lordi, the faux-metal group that won the 2006 Eurovision Song Contest, or Finntroll. Add Bomfunk MC’s to this list and it may lead you to believe that our Finnish friends have a rather questionable taste in music. While this may hold true in a general sense, there is one group with the ability to save their countries’ dubious musical output: the trance-inducing, awe-inspiring K-X-P. This trio takes krautrock, throws in some African rhythms and Middle Eastern melodies and turns it into a mind-altering experience. Joining K-X-P is the newest signing on Fog Mountain, the very young, very talented Hoek, who’s upcoming EP Mary sounds like a majestic landscape from a fantasy novel.
