The Wytches

4 October

The Wytches are three gloomy Brightonians spouting gruesome grunge which is both slightly sinister and catchy as hell. Creating a sort of tormented surf sound, Kristian Bell, Gianni Honey and Daniel Rumsey are clearly specimens of the daunting juxtaposition of seaside upbringing along the dreary British coast.

Don’t underestimate the wickedly progressive jam of the squinty-eyed young dudes who make the surf-psych outfit The Wytches. These three doomy Brightonians spout gruesome grunge which is both slightly sinister and catchy as hell. Creating a sort of tormented surf sound, Kristian Bell, Gianni Honey and Daniel Rumsey are clearly specimens of the daunting juxtaposition of seaside upbringing along the dreary British coast. Following a string of singles and cassettes released on the likes of Hate Hate Hate Records, Robe for Juda and Fat Possum Records, the three-piece occultists drop their debut LP Annabel Dream Reader 25 August on Heavenly Records in Europe and 26 August on Partisan Records in the States. The acutely anguished, gloom-heavy release was recorded in just two days at Toe Rag Studios in Hackney, London. Adding a little groovy punk rhythm to the night are the Aruba-sprung, Amsterdam-based punk duo Nancy Acid.
