Ringo Deathstarr + Mountain States

With a passion for pulsing guitars and a hatred of pretentious lyrics, Austin, TX trio Ringo Deathstarr gush out an acid-wash wave of shoegaze. This March, Texans Elliott Frazier, Alex Gehring and Daniel Coborn released their debut 12″ record God’s Dream on Neon Sigh/ Noyes Records just after the completion of their 29 date, nation wide tour of the States.

Though they hail from sun-drenched Austin, noise-pop quartet Ringo Deathstarr channels the gloom and discord of shoegaze icons like My Bloody Valentine and The Jesus and Mary Chain better than anyone else these days. Though they initially wore the My Bloody Valentine comparisons like an albatross around their necks, they’ve broadened the scope of their affections since 2012’s well-received Mauve, sailing into uncharted sonic waters which are entirely their own. Nijmegen’s Mountain States have been playing together for less than a year, but their toe tappingly taut and fuzzy guitar pop has already garnered comparisons to Beach Fossils and Real Estate.
