Heli, a film by the talented young director Amat Escalante, is a strong and shocking depiction of the problem of drug cartels and police corruption in a violent society.

Heli is a teenage father who lives somewhere in Mexico with his wife, baby boy, father and little sister. These people lead ordinary lives, with Heli working night shifts at a local factory. When Heli’s sister Estela, only 12 years of age, secretly gets involved with local boy Beto, a series of events is set in motion that will drastically change the lives of all parties involved.
