JULY: THIJS KUIJKEN
Friday 29 June 2012 at 10:59 am
In July we have some great photography to show you. The featured artist of our July/August magazine is Thijs Kuijken, better known as I Am Oak, the skilled and sensitive songwriter who has recently released his new album Nowhere Or Tammensaari, which was recorded in the middle of Finnish nowhere.
Besides writing songs, Kuijken is also a very gifted photographer. His exhibition is called 'Woander' and can be seen as a wandering through space and time in search of an origin and a primal feeling, represented in landscapes and objects from the natural world. His wonderful, minimalist images betray the same sensitivity and stillness that can be found in his songs, radiating love for detail and nature. The strong focus on something simple and small - like a stone or a branch of leaves - in fact exposes the grandness of life in an almost philosophical way.
The opening will take place on Friday July 6 from 17:30 until 21:00 at the Subbacultcha! office. Free food and fresh Warsteiner for all. If you would like to attend the opening you can RSVP by sending an e-mail to: email@example.com.
