KANIPCHEN-FIT is vocalist Gloria and vocalist/guitarist/soundscaper Empee Holwerda-Williams. Gloria is known throughout the Tri-state area and beyond as a poet and visual artist, while Empee is also a member of the Amsterdam based music group SOLBAKKEN, who are best known in the US for their collaboration with San Diego’s Black Heart Procession, on the ’In The Fishtank’ series (released through Touch and Go). KANIPCHEN-FIT uses two voices, electric guitar, tambourine, minimal beats and looped guitar patterns for optimum effect. The music is unsentimental, the lyrics taking on subjects as rain, corruption, faith, the American flag and prison entertainment.
